Halogen lamps evolved from standard incandescent lamps. The halogen cycle prevents vaporized tungsten from the filament being deposited on the glass bulb, which is what happens with ordinary lightbulbs in the course of their life. Halogen lamps provide a light spectrum that closely resembles that of sunlight.
We've been been producing tungsten-halogen lampes in our Eichstätt factory since 1967 and have continuously improved them ever since. Initially, low voltage lamps were the mainstay of the production spectrum. The filament of these lamps is more resilient and can be charged with a higher current, making them notably more efficient than standard incandescent lamps. However, they do need control gear such as a transformer. Therefore, our portfolio now includes halogen lamps for line voltage. The advantages over ordinary light bulbs include longer life, greater intensity and better color rendering.

A recent development is our new line of HALOGEN ENERGY SAVERS. Their efficacy was further improved compared to previous halogen lamps. A different gas filling or a special infrared coating on the bulb helps to reduce heat losses of the filament, thus you need less energy to keep the filament hot.
The higher efficacy of these new lamp types leads to a lower energy consumption - the wattages were adjusted, thus the lamps can be used as one to one replacements of conventional lamps with the same light output, saving an average of 30% energy.

Besides their higher efficacy, longer lifetime and continuous dimm-ability, halogen lamps have an additional advantage, adding to their environmental benefits: They are free of any hazardous materials and can be disposed of without any special concerns together with standard household waste.
