Audi used car center in Eching
The well-known Audi slogan, "Vorsprung durch Technik", is used in its entirety for the complete lighting of the Audi used car center: Only lighting solutions featuring LED technology are used for a wide variety of applications on the 45,000 m2 site at Eching near Munich, Germany. Together with its subsidiary Siteco, OSRAM implemented highly modern LED lighting at the location, and the system can be flexibly controlled, requires extremely low maintenance and is able to achieve significant cost savings thanks to high energy efficiency.
Aims of the lighting project: The energy-efficient and highly flexible illumination of the complete Audi used car center exclusively with LED technology. Audi placed special value on specific requirements for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor applications, and in implementing their own lighting concepts and solutions.

The Audi terminal
Large expanses of glass characterize the Audi terminal building, and the interior is dominated by dynamic, asymmetric curved spaces. The used car exponents, sales area, accessories store and workshop have been brought together under one roof across two floors.
Project-specific uplighters from Siteco have been integrated into the curved walls, and, with their narrow upward light distribution and 5300 Kelvin color temperature, they ensure homogeneous illumination of the space via reflection on the ceiling. Their diffuse indirect light component is essential for recognizing the forms of the vehicles. Details are accented with direct light from Lunis SL LED downlights, with pan-and-tilt adjustment according to the exponents.
A special focus was placed on the area for vehicle handover. Light fields have been integrated in this area into the ceiling with a stretch film from Rentex that conceal DRAGONchain tunable white LED modules from OSRAM. Using a DALI touch panel, the color temperature of these light fields can be individually modified between 2700 and 6500 Kelvin for optimum highlighting of the specific vehicle colors.
The reception area, store and ancillary rooms are equipped with Lunis 2 micro and mini LED downlights, and Novaluna LED luminaires for classic office lighting have been installed in the sales area. These are ideal for illuminating computer screens. Modario trunking with IP20 LED modules have been installed in the workshop area.
The exhibition space
Up to 500 vehicles can be accommodated in the exhibition hall, which has a total floorspace of 17,000 m2. Modario trunking was also installed to efficiently illuminate this area, consisting of 20 units, each with a length of 150 meters, and each equipped with 30 symmetric, wide distribution IP20 LED modules. It was thanks to the easy mounting feature of the system with rotary catches that the installation company needed just two days for the 600 luminaire inserts. The system can also be controlled according to lighting needs and the number of visitors with the integrated DALI interface.
The outdoor area
As with other Audi terminals, project-specific light columns were installed at Eching as well, although here for the first time with LED technology. They emit general lighting with a mast height of 7.5 meters, and, at a height of 6 meters, they specifically illuminate vehicles parked outside. Siteco Streetlight 10 LED road luminaires ensure safe driving and good visibility on the entrance ways and parking spaces.
